Unawatuna, Sri Lanka
Unawatuna is a little beach town in the southeastern side of Sri Lanka. We did have a great time in Unawatuna seeing the sights and just enjoying the very chill vibe in town. There are some incredible views of the ocean, and romantic dinners on the beach in Unawatuna which make this town even more endearing.
Visiting Yala National Park-Sri Lanka
During our first week in Sri Lanka we made the journey to Yala National Park in the hopes of seeing leopards. Yala has the largest population of leopards in Sri Lanka, however, you are still very lucky if you get to see a leopard.
Tips For Traveling In Thailand
After 5 weeks of traveling throughout Thailand here are our tips for enjoying and sometimes surviving in Thailand.
What To See In Bangkok
Bangkok is a bustling city, as the largest one in Thailand it is not only full of people, traffic and temples, it is also full of attitude, scams and pollution. For us Bangkok was the low point of our 5 week journey through Thailand.
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Sitting atop the Doi Suthep mountain overlooking the second largest city in Thailand, Chiang Mai, is the Wat Phra That. To get there is pretty easy, you can take a tuk-tuk or hire a driver. It is about a 21 km drive up the mountain.
Two Days in Sukhothai Thailand
The ancient city of Sukhothai and the town of Sukhothai were definitely one of our favorite places in Thailand. Not only was I able to find yummy Thai food (at last!) as well as finding a quaint, easy to navigate town with an amazing history .
Chiang Rai Thailand
As we rode through the streets of Chiang Rai, crouched over to peer out the sides of the tuk-tuk, I found my body filling with relief and excitement. The streets of Chiang Rai are cleaner, lined with flowers and ornate gold posts topped with flying birds or dragons. All were a welcomed change to the bustling, not very clean, cities we had explored before.
Living By My Rules
It is very easy to find amazing hotels in Thailand and not spend more than 100.00 per night including breakfast. It is possible to travel through the country cheaply without jumping on a songtaew or mini-van. We have booked VIP buses for 12.00 per person, flights for 33.00 each and ferrys for about 24.00 per person.
Back in the States
We came back to the states four days ago. It hasn’t been as shocking of a transition as our move back from Italy 9 years ago. However, there are still some things I will miss, and some things I won’t.
